Descended from a lineage of storytellers, healers, spiritual leaders, and what some might call wizards, Zita Christian draws on her heritage to spin tales of magic in the lives of ordinary people. She has written three historical romance novels published by Harper Collins for their Monogram imprint. As Zelena Winters, she is the author of Tambourine Moon. a novella in the Words of the Witches anthology published in 2002 by Berkley. Under her own name, she wrote a lead article in the April 2004 issue of Hooked On The Outdoors magazine.
Zita also hosts and produces two weekly television shows that air on various public access channels in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Full Bloom, winner of ten national Pegasus Awards for amateur video, covers subjects of interest to the baby boomers. The other show, Page 1, features interviews with writers, editors, booksellers, and others connected with the craft of writing, the business of publishing, and the joy of reading. It is the winner of eight Pegasus Awards.
Since 1996, Zita has taught a week-long course on writing genre fiction at the annual summer conference of the International Women's Writing Guild (www.iwwg.org) She has also taught writing at various chapters of Romance Writers of America and as a non-credit course at the Hartford College for Woman.
In 2008, Zita organized five other writers to complete the manuscript of one of their dear friends, the late Liz Aleshire, who had undergone emergency open-heart surgery. Zita also wrote the foreword for the book, 101 Ways You Can Help: How to Offer Comfort and Support to Those Who Are Grieving. It will be published by Sourcebooks in May 2009.
While working on her next novel, Zita works as assistant manager in the education and community relations department of the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, CT.
